Love Me or Love Me Not … Definitely The Smashbox “Love Me” Collection!

Love Me or Love Me Not … Definitely The Smashbox “Love Me” Collection!

So by now, I’m sure most of you know that I’m a huge Smashbox fan! (You can see some of my Smashbox favourites here and here. Smile) They are definitely one of my favourite beauty brands available in South Africa, if not one of my favourite beauty brands available anywhere! So I was completely thrilled (like jumping up and down for joy type thrilled!) when I received a bunch of products from the new Smashbox Limited Edition “Love Me” Collection which I had already been eyeing with total lust! I received the products on the day I was leaving for a holiday (Which is also why I haven’t blogged in a while.) so I packed them with me and used the heck out of them while I was away! … Which means you can get the full scoop on the collection and my reviews here. Smile

Color, street art and photography collide in a cross-industry studio collaboration.

The Smashbox “Love Me” collection is a Spring 2013 collection consisting of  eye shadows, lipsticks, blushes, liners and lip glosses that were created in  collaboration with world-renowned street artist Curtis Kulig who is known for  his signature “Love Me” tag.

While the products’ packaging is heavily inspired by Kurig’s signature “Love Me” tag giving the packaging a super trendy ‘funky’ feel, the makeup itself is inspired by his vivid use of rich, vibrant colours.

Now for the ‘low-down’ on the products I received. Smile

1) The ‘Love Me’ Eye Shadow Palette in “Entice Me”

image

image

The packaging is tagged with Kulig’s signature ‘Love Me’ scrawl giving it a trendy, ‘not your typical’ palette type look.  What’s more important are the colours! It has classic base colours (a sparkly taupe and a peachy pink) that can be used for almost any look and accent colours (a vibrant midnight blue, a mint green, and a a sparkly violet) that are very on trend.  One of the things I really like about it is that the palette includes much more of the base colours than the accent colours, which is great because the base colours are used in every look and therefore end up being used much more.

Here are the swatches for the product:

The colours are all nicely pigmented and are quite shimmery  making them great to dress up any look!

One more added bonus about this palette is that it has a sticker on the back that gives you step by step instructions on how to use the colours to create the perfect blue smoky eye! (a look that is very on trend for spring 2013!) It also has a barcode that you can scan to watch a video showing you exactly how to do the look!

2) The ‘Love Me’ Paint Pen Eye Liner

image

image

It’s a liquid eye liner pen in a bold jet black that is inspired by Kulig’s actual paint pens.  The fact that the tip starts off so thick makes it very sturdy and easy to control, making it perfect for creating a dramatic cat eye!  Since it tapers off to a fine point, it also works well for creating thin lines.

I tried to get creative instead of doing a regular swatch here. Smile

Fortunately, from my little ‘inner Kurig channeling’, you can see that you can get very thick, thin and bold lines out of this pen … and definitely lots of control!Smile

3) The ‘Love Me’ Blush in “Idolize Me”

image

image

It’s a soft pink blush that is not too bright and has the perfect tone to give you that perfect ‘flushed’ look … It has actually become my ‘go to’ blush for the last two weeks since I received it!Smile I also think it’s really cute how the “Love Me” tag is engraved into the blush … like every time I open it it’s asking me to remind it that I do love it! Hehe …Smile

Here is a swatch of the blush:

The colour goes on lightly so if you’re ever heavy handed with it you won’t end up looking like a clown.  It also builds well so on those days when you do want a little extra drama you can just add more.Smile

4) The ‘Love Me’ Lip Enhancing Gloss in “Charm Me”

image

image

It’s a non-sticky, moisturizing lip gloss that has a hint of pearlescent shimmer in a pale bubble gum pink. It’s the perfect compliment to the bold rich colours in the “Entice Me” eye shadow pallet, and/or the perfect finish to any bold smoky eyed look.

This is the swatch:

As you can see it has a very shiny and almost nude finish … perfect for when you want to tone your lips down and make your eyes the focal point.

The collection also includes these gorgeous lipsticks which I am totally lusting over and so tempted to buy!

image

They are Smashbox’s signature “Be Legendary” lipsticks (Which I previously wrote about here.) in two new shades created especially for this collection.  The shades are “Love Me” which is a true red and “Tempt Me” which is a coral.

And here’s a makeup look I created with the “Love Me” products I received.Smile
