Review: Too Faced Lashgasm Mascara … Spoiler Alert: I’m in Love!!

Mascara is one of those makeup items that if I was ever trapped on a deserted island and for some reason could only choose three makeup products to bring with me, mascara would be one of them! (BB cream and concealer would be the other two … those three items with some contouring and lip-gloss is all you really need for a quick fresh face! But more on that in another post.Smile ) I just love the way mascara instantly opens your eyes and can make you look awake … even when you’re not really! I’m also pretty picky about my mascaras … I like them to be multifunctional and go the whole nine yards with volumizing, separating, lengthening and curling effects! So when I saw that Too Faced Lashgasm mascara is available at www.rubybox.co.za and that on top of going the whole nine yards, it also has moisturizing elements to keep lashes healthy, I just knew I had to have it!

My Sentiments Exactly!

Too Faced is another one of those brands that I loved when I lived overseas but is not available here, so I was thrilled to see that www.rubybox.co.za carries one of their most popular products! (It’s the only Too Faced product that they currently have available so hopefully they’ll start carrying more soon!Smile).  However I am a huge long time fan of Dior Show Mascara and over the years I’ve tried so many other brands that just don’t live up to my expectations, thus even though I’ve heard so many rave reviews about Lashgasm, I was sceptical to try it at first.  What really sold me on it is the fact that it is packed with ingredients like vitamins A & E, jojoba seed oil, Meadowfoam seed oil,and Panthenol to moisturize and condition the lashes.  As much as I love my Dior Show Mascara, wearing mascara so often can definitely dry out and damage your lashes over time (I know over the years my lashes have become much thinner than what they once were). So using a product that can enhance them inside and out in one step is definitely a bonus! I have been using it for about two months now, and I can say that my lashes do feel slightly softer and healthier.  I also find fewer lashes on my cheeks when I’m cleaning off my makeup!

The bristles on the brush are actually the opposite of what I normally like in a mascara brush … they are short, firm and kind of spaced out which is apparently meant to help separate the lashes as it volumizes … so I was surpised to see that I actually really liked it when I realized that it does just that!Smile  The only complaint I have about the product comes in here: Since the bristles are so firm, they can feel a little sharp if they touch your lash line so you have to be careful not to let the brush do that when you start using it … However, once I got used to using this brush it wasn’t a problem.

Now here is where the magic comes in!Smile

Below are my before and after pictures …

Before: Without Mascara

After: Wearing Too Faced Lashgasm (without curling my lashes)

As you can see, in my ‘before’ picture you can barely see my lashes (now you know why I love mascara so much!) … but in my after’ picture, all you see is my lashes!Smile Like the saying goes, ‘pictures are worth a thousand words’ so I’m sure you can see why I’ve fallen for this mascara … but just in case I’ll summarize anyways:Smile

My main concern is usually volume and lift (because some of that length is actually my ownSmile) and this mascara does both amazingly! The added length is a definite bonus, because I do believe that your lashes can never be long enough.  Keeping the lashes separated can often be a problem with highly volumizing mascaras, but the brush does what it promises and keeps them separated. The only time I’ve found clumping to be a problem with this mascara is when you use more than two coats, so if you do want that extra drama I suggest using a clean spooley brush or eyelash comb to separate any clumps that may form … However with this mascara, I doubt you will ever really need more than two coats because it is very dramatic the way it is!  The last thing I really love about it is how pigmented it is … it is a very rich black, which adds to the volume and gives it the dramatic look that it has.

In conclusion: I love, love, love this mascara! I love that it lifts, volumizes, separates and lengthens all while keeping my lashes moisturized and conditioned! It has actually replaced my long time favourite mascara and I plan on repurchasing it when it runs out.
