The red carpet looks at the MTV Movie Awards shows are always my favourite to watch. They are not as formal as the Grammies so the stars can have more fun with their looks and really show off their personal style. And off course, since I love make up, it’s even more fun for me to watch the stars shine with their best beauty looks! So here is a roundup of some of my favourite fashion and beauty looks from the 2012 MTV Music Awards show
Since I’m in South Africa, I’ll start with the South African first . I absolutely LOVED Charlize Theron’s red peplum dress! I find the peplum design can sometimes take away from your shape if it’s not cut properly or doesn’t sit perfectly … but as usual Charlize managed to get it right! The dress looks like it was made for her! And in red it’s classic, fun and sexy all at the same time! Definitely one of my favourite looks of the evening!
As for her hair and make up, she kept in line with the minimal look by having ‘barely there’ make up and loose, straight hair. She used peach on her lips and cheeks, and a shimmery bronze shadow on her lids that kept the look glam. Being the Dior model she is, she doesn’t really need a lot of make up to look gorgeous, but I thought a more glamorous up do would have perfected this look for the event.
Next is one of my favourite looks of the event! Lucy Hale’s colour blocked dress (which I REALLY WANT!) is totally fun and sexy making it perfect for the MTV Awards! The fact that she kept her accessories minimal and wore neutral silver shoes, kept the look from being overwhelming since the dress is already quite busy.
She also kept on this year’s summer trend with loosely curled, side swept hair. Paired with a soft smoky eye and pale pink lips, she completed the look perfectly!
Kat Graham looked incredibly chic in a classic but sexy low cut LBD that draped beautifully in the front. Although she had the high slit, her ‘left leg’ didn’t take centre stage like Angelina Jolie’s did.
My favourite part of her look was the on trend slicked back hair with the winged eyeliner/cat eye makeup, which I love! … It really makes her features pop and made the whole look ‘put together’! To get tips and tricks on how to do the winged eyeliner/cat eye look, click here
Emma Stone was another girl in peplum, except she wore it with black and white colour blocking. I thought it looked really cute!
But what I like most about her outfit was her hair and make up! Her hair was pulled back in a texturized bun that was just messy enough to not be too ‘overdone’. She gave the outfit a gorgeous pop of colour with hot pink lips that really complemented her skin tone.
Last but not least, one of my other favourite overall looks was Jessica Biel in her all white 60’s inspired outfit, with the pop of colour in her gorgeous shoes! Another dress I totally wish I owned! It was chic and summery all at the same time!
She kept her hair and make up on trend by also sporting a winged eyeliner and a full blunt fringe, keeping all the attention on her eyes. Simply gorgeous!
There were actually SO many more looks that I loved, but unfortunately way too many to write about all of them!
