So by now, I’m sure most of you know that I’m a huge Smashbox fan! (You can see some of my Smashbox favourites here and here. ) They are definitely one of my favourite beauty brands available in South Africa, if not one of my favourite beauty brands available anywhere! So I was completely thrilled (like jumping up and down for joy type thrilled!) when I received a bunch of products from the new Smashbox Limited Edition “Love Me” Collection which I had already been eyeing with total lust! I received the products on the day I was leaving for a holiday (Which is also why I haven’t blogged in a while.) so I packed them with me and used the heck out of them while I was away! … Which means you can get the full scoop on the collection and my reviews here.
Mascara is one of those makeup items that if I was ever trapped on a deserted island and for some reason could only choose three makeup products to bring with me, mascara would be one of them! (BB cream and concealer would be the other two … those three items with some contouring and lip-gloss is all you really need for a quick fresh face! But more on that in another post. ) I just love the way mascara instantly opens your eyes and can make you look awake … even when you’re not really! I’m also pretty picky about my mascaras … I like them to be multifunctional and go the whole nine yards with volumizing, separating, lengthening and curling effects! So when I saw that Too Faced Lashgasm mascara is available at www.rubybox.co.za and that on top of going the whole nine yards, it also has moisturizing elements to keep lashes healthy, I just knew I had to have it!
So I’m sure that by now most of you have heard about Stila Cosmetics and their recent launch here in South Africa … and if you haven’t, you can find the ‘who, what, where’ on them in my recent post ‘So Many New Lust-Worthy Beauty Brands Entering Cape Town … Here’s the Lowdown on Them!’. If you have read that post than you would know that I was especially excited about Stila’s launch here because I’ve been a fan of theirs from way back when I lived in Canada. So at the first chance I could get, I had to rush out and get my hands on some of the products they launched! The first two products I purchased were their In The Moment Eye Shadow Palette and their Custom Color Blush in Self Adjusting Coral and here are my reviews for them. 🙂
I have to admit I tend to favour higher end beauty products, and I often bypass drugstore products even though I know there can be a lot of great potential in them. I’m also the type of person that when I find a product that I like I tend to stick to it, and for my eyeliner that product is (or possibly ‘was’) Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner. I also tend to prefer gel eyeliner over liquid eyeliner for doing intense eyeliner looks because they are easier to control than liquid eyeliners. However, when I was at Dis-Chem yesterday the Essence Eye Liner Pen caught my eye and for only R34.95, I thought there would be no harm in giving it a try.Continue reading
